HOWTO: Connect your Blackberry and use it as a modem!
This process has worked on both my 8700c and my 8300 Curve. I am using AT&T, so this is just a guide for that service only. You can also try the guide on the Blackberry Forums. I am providing this guide, because I haven’t found to many great tutorials out there for this.
1. Make sure you have your Blackberry connected to your laptop and to your Blackberry Desktop Manager.
2. Make sure your modem is set-up
Start > Control Panel > Phone and Modem Options > Modems Tab
3. Click Properties and make sure you have this Initialization Command is in +cgdcont=1,”IP”,”WAP.CINGULAR”

4. Click OK on everything and continue on with making a connection.
5. Go to Control Panel > Network Connections
6. Create a new connection: New Connection Wizard > Connect to the Internet > Setup Manually > Connect Using Dial-up > Select the correct modem
Connection Name: Whatever you want here
Phone number: *99***1#
User Name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
7. That should be it. Now connect to the internet and see if it works. The speeds aren’t 100% perfect, but 100 times better than normal dial-up.
Hopefully this will work out for you all. I will try to answer questions if I know anything. Feel free to comment!

No tethering here and it worked fine for me. I recently switched to the iPhone, but it should still work fine.
